Bringin' down the gingerbread house?

Ok, when it comes to gingerbread houses... I think I'm the worst at making them. Last night Steve and Krystal came over and Christy and I made gingerbread houses together. I didn't know how hard it was! Sure, yah, we didn't look at any instructions... but that was my decision. Chyeeah, a gingerbread house, how hard can it be?

Here's what was going on in my mind...
Step 1 - Pick 2 walls and icing glue them together.
Step 2 - Quickly pick up the rest and icing glue them all together, including the roof. (aka: Build the house.... as fast as you can!)
Step 3 - coat the thing with all sorts of candies (sampling them as you go)
Step 4 - look at the wonderful creation you made and... well... eat it!

Well, here's what really happened...
Step 1 - All the walls and roof were put together before the icing hardened. nice!
Step 2 - Quickly start putting on heavy gumballs and jube-jubes.
Step 3 - Watch the whole thing fall apart several times as you try to redeem it.
Step 4 - look at the ewy goowy mess you made and think about what to eat first.
Last step - Re-think the way you did it and try better next year!

Well, it was definitely yummy. (don't worry, I didn't eat it all in one night... that would have been a license to get sick fast!) Meanwhile... Steve and Krystal made a wonderful train with a whole bunch of gummy bears that either hitched a ride or were plastered to the front like bugs on a windshield... of course... that was Steve's humour.

Don't forget about Crave @ Home tomorrow... you can see where your group is meeting on the youth website. ALSO! a note for NB4NY, make sure you bring $10 to get in.. plus some spending money. There will be a concession open for food/pop throughout the night (pizza is only sold by the slice at the concession during the night. The $10 does cover breakfast in the morning plus some free foods throughout the night.

Christmas time is here...

Christmas time is definitely here. Last weekend was our infamous Christmas time events here at Engageyouth. 43 Junior highs packed themselves into the auditorium for an "in-house" movie theatre that played the Jim Carey Grinch. Candy-cane milkshakes, McDonald's cheeseburgers... yep, we had all the bases covered.

The Senior highs had an awesome banquet that some said, "this banquet was better than the past years" ~annonymous Sr. High student (this or any quotes on this blog may or may not be 100% accurate). Great food, fun games, great prizes and everyone looked nice. It was really fun!

On another note... Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? We're pretty close. hey, just a word of advice... don't go to the mayfair on saturday afternoon. It's BRUTAL! Actually, anywhere downtown'ish is hectic. Better to be more prepared and do it earlier next year. Man. Those traffic control people at the mall look like they are on a power trip. Either that or they are making minimum wage and hate their jobs. Anyways enough about them.... more on buttertarts. No joke! I like-em.... espesh with raisins. That's soo good. Maybe I can use the force...

You WILL... bring Wes butter tarts... You WILL bring them to him next time you see him...

my son, the T.V. star

How many days until Christmas? Or should I say how many sleeps? My son became a T.V. star on Monday night. He was watching the train go by at the Canwest Mall. (This was right before he saw Santa and sat on his knee). He didn't ask for much (since he can't talk sentences), so it should be easy to find him something for Christmas. I'm not sure what, "Doh, dah, doh" means... can someone interpret for me?

Anyways, there's a big weekend coming up for youth. Junior highs are getting a huge surprise during the Friday night Christmas party. It's going to be good!
And Senior Highs, your banquet is going to be soooo good. It's not too late to get tickets. Phone me at the church if you want to bring friends. Your friends are encouraged to come. It's only $10 a ticket, which covers a catered meal, prizes and games.

Well last wednesday was so cool. Fervor was the night, and the Advent walk seemed to really impact people. Looking at the creativity of the "clip and paste" section with magazines, as well as the journal that was written in, it was so cool to see you guys be so bold to say that you want to live for Jesus and not your own desires. Anyways, remember to pray that the true meaning of Christmas will be real to you this year.

I went to Claremont (sp?) yesterday with Courtney. It was so fun! We brought out 12 slurpees and it was cold out. Why would anyone want a slurpee in December?! Special K... can you explain? Oh well, they went quickly. Anways.. back to some shout-outs (right Nick?)... Hey to all you Claremonters we saw and met... Ryan M., Ryan R., Ryan T., Brandon, Luke B., Justine S-G, (what was your friend's name? oh well, shout out to her too!), Chelsea, Jessica, Ashley, Liz, Karson (sp? with a 'K' right?). ... yep that's me... but that's ok. It's all for the butter tarts... because it's butter tart season... anyone want to bake me some? mmmmmmmmm........ or a grumblecake. Anyone have a good grumblecake recipe?
